PORCELLINO

10.11.2021

‘Il Porcellino’ is one of the most famous fountains of the Florentine Renaissance. Made in bronze by Pietro Tacca in 1633 following the original marble, a Roman copy of a Hellenistic work is now located on the edge of the loggia of the New Market.
Following the numerous mergers carried out over time, Il Porcellino soon became our distinctive icon, an element of recognition for the artists, artisans and friends who frequented and frequented the Foundry.

Over 20 copies have been made in our workshops and destined for public and private villas and gardens.
Even today, a 1: 1 scale reproduction is exhibited at the entrance to the foundry. Popular tradition has it that touching the pig’s nose brings good luck, so perhaps ours always has a shiny nose.
